ACARLISLE haulage firm's reputation as egg transporters was known on the South Coast, it was revealed during an application before the Northern Licensing Authority at Carlisle last week.

J. and W. Watt, Ltd., of Carlisle, were seeking two additional 7-ton articulated vehicles on their A licence. The managing director, Mr. John B. Watt, explained that the vehicles were needed to transport eggs to Newcastle, the Midlands, London and the South Coast.

The application was supported by Mr. Jack Studd, secretary-manager of the Fresh Farms Egg Packing Station at Longtan, near Preston, who said that when he was on an egg-packing station on the South Coast, he had heard of the efficiency of the Carlisle firm in egg transport.

Objectors to the application were Road Services (Caledonian),_Ltd., and Robson's Border Transport, Ltd. The Authority, Mr. J. A. T, Hanlon, granted a short-term licence for one articulated vehicle.
