THERE is no legal requirement for tachographs to be checked every two years, according to the Freight Transport Association.
It has pointed out to its members that the shape and detail of the two-yearly checks to satisfy EEC regulations have still to be finalised, Members had been reporting that some hgv testing station staff have queried whether a tachograph satisfies legal requirements if its installation plaque is more than two years old, and some centres have said that full recalibration, at the appropriate fee, is necessary after two years.
The FTA has reported these matters to the DTp.
