WESTERN SMT is to introduce a new streamlined bus service in Dumfries and Galloway later this year. The company plans a major reorganisation of school and stage services which would save it up to £500,000 in 12 months. Much of this will be achieved by reducing numbers of vehicles and drivers.
Western's proposals arise out of the ScotMAP survey conducted in the region in 1980. The company's proposals have already been the subject of discussion with Dumfries & Galloway Regional Council roads and education committee.
