THE last two tram services in the south of Liverpool are losing £700 a week and immediate track repairs would cost £24,000. Mr. S. Royle, traffic superintendent of Liverpool Transport Department, gave this information to the North Western Licensing Authority, last week, when application was made for the conversion of the routes to motorbus operation by June.
Reserving his decision, the Authority expressed the view that the public would rather wait for a bus than catch a tram where two services coincided.
