The lorry parks, scheduled fc several years and currently est mated to cost more tha E100,000, have been put back i favour of private car parking.

Tynedale council admits thi purpose-built lorry parks ar needed urgently at Hexham an several other towns in the are but the council feels that the pr vete motorist has more deman on the money available tha haulage firms, many from mile away, which in its view, do nc contribute anything toward th rates.
