TNT Overnite had the embarrassing experience of getting egg on its face at the RHA Conference at Bournemouth. According to the Conference staff document wallets which had been sponsored by Renault Trucks & Buses for the delegates were sent from Western Avenue London to Bournemouth — about 120 miles on the Thursday evening by TNT's guaranteed overnight service. They arrived on Monday at lunchtime — after the documents had been issued. Others made a point of ensuring that we knew that on this occasion they were not to blame for a late delivery.
