Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SCANIA is to introduce a righthand-drive version of its new LB81 chassis at the Scottish Show on November 7.

The vehicle, which was first seen — in lhd form — at the Frankfurt Show earlier this year, supersedes the LB80 and is fitted with uprated versions of the 08 and DS8 engines from the LB80.

The naturally aspirated D8 now produces 180kW (145bhp) at 2,400rpm, the turbocharged DS8 153kW (205bhp) at the same speed: both figures to BS AU 141a: net installed.

Exhaust emissions from the uprated engines are claimed to comply with US standards and specific fuel consumption to below that of the pre-uprated engines.

To •meet the higher ratings Scania has fitted a greater capacity fuel-injection pump to the modified engine which now has revised intake and exhaust manifolds, and different valve timing. The turbocharged DS8 engine has a limiter designed to reduce smoke at low engine speeds.

To increase engine service life Scania has strengthened the block; its redesigned cylinder heads are secured by 10 bolts to uniformly distribute the tightening and sealing stresses. The steel cylinderhead gasket is pinched by the cylinder liners for optimum cylinder sealing.

Engine lubrication has been improved by a 50 per cent higher capacity oil pump; oil cleaner capacity, too, is up, and an oil cooler is connected to the cleaner.

Oil is sprayed from crankshaft nozzles on to the underside of the piston crowns to keep them cool.

The LB81 also has a restyled cab interior, which has new instrument and control panels, and heating and ventilating system plus extensive sound insulation.
