Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Simplicity is the keynote of a tappet adjusting tool introduced by SPQR Engineering.

The tool needs no adjustment or maintenance and accepts a lin, socket. To use the tool the lock nut on the tappet is loosened and the tool's trigger pressed, the floating screwdriver blade falling into place.

The top of the tool is a torque-loading mechanism. When turned in winds down the tappet adjustment screw, taking up all clearances, even forcing oil out of the cups. All wear is therefore included at this stage, but the valve is not compressed. The rocker mechanism is now ready for final adjustment.

The top of the tool is turned once more—this time in the opposite direction. Measurement is indicated by a series of positive clicks. The exact clearance is obtained by following the information in the handle, giving adjustment instructions for popular engine types.

The final step is to tighten the lock nut once more by simply using the handle.
