Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In "Management Matters" (CM October 24 1969) John Darker refers to ''. . . the NFC's travel empire". This was perhaps a slip of the pen, for the National Freight Corporation does not own travel agencies. Nor was it ever intended to do so. Where Pickfords removal offices do ancillary business by acting as travel agents, and thereby reduce the overheads of the said offices, this agency work is carried out on quite a distinct basis and in the name of Pickfords Travel Service Ltd., a company which is still owned by the Transport Holding Company through the medium of THC Travel Securities Ltd. In accordance with the wellknown policy of the Transport Holding Company this travel subsidiary is free to expand equally with all others, due regard being had to the overriding family interest.

L MAPLESTON, Secretary, National Freight Corporation.
