• A suggestion that smaller bus operators might be allowed to operate local services if they applied to the Traffic Commissioners was made by CIIr. John Peake at a council meeting in Leamington Spa. CIIr, Peake said that Midland Red "had condescended to think about a service to Sydenham Estate. We might get a better service if Midland Red faced some healthy competition", he added.
Dlr. Leslie Freeman said that the whole system of local transport as applied to Midland Red in Leamington needed drastically looking at. Ur. Thomas Nicholson, chairman of the planning and public works committee, said that the committee agreed that even the last bus from the working centre of Warwick Street left five minutes before the workers finished, ensuring an empty bus.
