Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I SINGLETON Transport has been given a formal warning by the North Western deputy traffic commissioner (DTC) for failing to ensure vehicles were given safety inspections on time.

At a public inquiry in Warrington, DTC Simon Evans was told that in December 2011, Vosa officers examined maintenance records relating to the Oldhambased company’s fleet.

Records for five of the company’s vehicles and three trailers were inspected and five instances where the six-week inspection date had been exceeded were identified.

A vehicle run by the company had also been issued with a prohibition for a defective headlamp, which it appeared the driver was aware of before he set out on his journey.

DTC Evans was also told that other prohibition notices had been issued to the company’s vehicles in 2011 and 2012, and that several vehicles had failed their annual tests.

The haulier – authorised to run 12 vehicles and six trailers – gave undertakings relating to safety inspections and promised that its transport manager will attend a refresher course within 90 days.

The DTC said: “I am satisfied that the purposeful steps taken since the unsatisfactory maintenance inspection and the undertakings which I now put in place are such that I can be satisfied of compliant operation in the future.”
