Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

It's really coming to something when experienced hauliers like John Bridge have to sell up (CM 24-30 May), like the many others forced out by a combination of high fuel tax and rotten rates.

Trying to run a haulage business in this country is just a nightmare. If the congestion, high tax, daft legislation and public perception problems don't do for you, then competition from foreign hauliers or unfair fines for illegal immigrants almost certainly will.

J Swaithcombe, Hayes, Middlesex.
