warnings of traffic congestion on motorways via display units in subscribers' vehicles has been launched by General Logistics of Luton.
The TRAFFIC-master will eventually be nationwide, but currently covers all motorways within 56km of central London. The system uses special detectors on motorway bridges to monitor the speed of vehicles.
If the overall traffic speed falls below a pre-set limit for a specified period of time a control centre is alerted which then transmits warnings.
