HEAT IS ON FOR THE BEST ▪ The final of the Lorry Driv er of the Year competition will be held at the NEC, Birmingham on 19 August, after a series of heats which are taking place throughout the summer. RALLYING AROUND FOR ROCKWELL • Rockwell International is staging an AEC Commercials Rally at its Rockwell-Maudslay plant in Warwickshire on 2 September.
The rally will be run in conjunction with the company's annual gala and flower show and is open to any AEC or AEC-powered vehicles, irrespective of age or condition, providing they are roadworthy and meet the necessary legal requirements.

SERVICES CARE-PLAN PACKAGE ▪ Jungheinrich (GB) has in troduced a new concept in truck care. Called Care-Plan, the scheme is designed to encourage a closer working relationship between the truck user and supplier. Under the scheme, Jungheinrich will guarantee to maintain every aspect of a truck's condition for four years without involving the user in any additional costs.
Care-Plan includes regular service inspections and maintenance procedures with Jungheinrich accepting responsibility for all parts and labour charges whether they result from manufacturing or material defects or simply arise through normal wear and tear.
The elimination of down-time is central to the Care-Plan philosophy so a Care-Line telephone network has been introduced to provide access to more than 200 engineers.

SKY HIGH REFIT • Sally Sky has gone back into service with Sally Line following a £5.5m refit where the ship was stretched by 20.8 metres.

LEGISLATION DRIVING TEST FEES TO BE INCREASED • The cost of taking a driving test is to go up from Monday 18 June. The fee for an appointment for an HGV/PSV test will rise from 242 to 245 and a car test will go up from £18 to n9-50.
