Development followed consultation with emergency service operators to assess their needs, and the vehicle debuted at a seminar five weeks ago. As a result of the interest shown at the seminar, police forces will be evaluating the vehicle over the next few months; Gwynedd Health Authority has already tested the vehicle in Snowdonia.
The Express ICU is not a direct competitor with Land Rover or Range Rover, says Peugeot Talbot.
Priced at 212,840 (ex-VAT), the Express is designed to tackle tricky off-road and slippery conditions without full allterrain capability.
