Court writ against its former accountants, KPMG Peat Marwick McLintock, alleging breach of contract and/or negligence over the auditing of accounts for 1987.
As part of the proceedings, the company hopes to establish that its now defunct parcels distribution subsidiary, Eagle Express — acquired in April 1988 as Connect UK — would not have suffered such severe losses, put at 225m, if Peat Marwick had been more rigorous in its accounting.
