have been introduced by Murex Welding Products. Each package comprises a power source and a wire feed unit and has been designed to allow maximum user-flexibility.
Smallest of the three is the Tradesmig 130 MEG welder which can be used to deposit welds in sheet steel 0.5-3nun thick. It can do MIG or MIGCO2 (MAG) arc welding and uses 0.6 or 0.8min mild steel wires.
Because it produces a narrower heat-affected zone than equivalent gas welds, distortion in fabrication is reduced.
Welding controls on the front panel comprise on/off switch, a six-position heat selection switch, wire feed adjustment, spot-weld and stitch-weld timers and an on/off time controller.
The Tradesmig 130 operates from 2201240V single-phase, 16A supplies and can be powered by a small portable mains generator.
The Tradesmig 160 has the same power rating and other similar features to the 130, but in addition will tackle both ferrous and non-ferrous metals 0.5-4.5mm thick and has a higher duty cycle rating. The unit is designed for use with CO., or argon mixtures and can produce high-quality welds in mild steels, stainless steels and aluminium with 5% magnesium.
The top-of-the-range Tradesmig 230 package has all of the control features of the two smaller models but is designed for higher-duty welding of steels, stainless steels, alu minium and other non-ferrous metals. The 230 is rated at 230A on a 20% duty duty cycle and operates off industrial 380/420V three-phase 20A supply. Its wire feeder suits mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium wires to weld metals from 1-10mm thick using CO., or argon shielding gas mixtures. The unit is fan cooled.
All three packages are sold mounted on four-wheel trolleys and come complete with cylinder carriers.
