He already serves on the Institute's examinations committee, and its honours and rules committee. At a local level he has been an active member of the Yorkshire Branch of the Institute, having served as its chairman, vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer.
Douglas Moore, managing director of National Carriers Eastern Region, has been appointed to a similar post with Southern region. He replaces John Parslow. Paul Riven, National Carriers group director of distribution, is the new Eastern Region managing director.

Fetherston, chief executive of the Meadows Group of Companies, has accepted an invitation to join the North American Advisory Group of the British Overseas Trade Board, The group's objective is to help promote export achievement of British companies in Canada and the U.S.A., and provide advice for the British Overseas Trade Board from member's individual commercial experience on the major issues and problems associated with the market, He is past National Chairman of the Institute of Freight Forwarders, and recently elected a Vice-President of the Institute, is also a member of the Board of S.I.T.P.R.O. (Simplification of International Trade Procedures).
