DENDING the transfer of the whole

of the Shrewsbury's Smithfield cattle market to the new Harlescott site, further moves are being made to have two market days held in the town for the attested and commercial sections. Hauliers have held talks with the county National Farmers' Union and the auctioneers.

Transport operators suggest that the attested market at Harleseott should be held on a day other than Tuesday, and that special sheep sales in the autumn should take place on a Thursday. They have also asked that the practicability of holding auctions on two days of the week should be considered for some future date.

All the branches of the Union in Shropshire have been asked to comment on these proposals.
