MR. A. CONNOR has been elected chairman of the Plymouth branch of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
ALL), E. 0. liowER, chairman of Halifax Passenger Transport Committee, has been elected mayor of Halifax for 1957-58.
MR. PAUL N. MATTON, managing director of Trico-Folberth, Ltd., ' has been elected to the council of the Institute of Export.
MR. J. W. DALLY, traffic manager of the Thames Valley Traction Co., Ltd., is to retire next month after 40 years' service with the company.
-MR. E. B. STEAD, technical manager of Albion Motors, Ltd., since 1949, has been elected chairman of the Scottish centre of the Automobile Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
MISS JOYCE Au/max, of Frames Tours, Ltd., has won the 1957 prize paper award of the Institute of Traffic Administration. Winner of the second prize is Mit. 1. A. B. Haas, of Corona Coaches.
MR. J. N. BENNErr, formerly manager of the Bristol depot and the south-west area of -Smiths Motor Accessories, Ltd., has been appointed assistant trade sales manager of the company. His successor is MR. E. G. ELLIOTT.
MR. L. G. W. Ts-rE is to succeed MR. P. D. RATCLIFFE as sales promotion manager of Commer Cars, Ltd., and Karrier Motors, Ltd. Mr. Tate joined the Rootes Group in 1946. Mr. Ratcliffe is taking up an outside appointment.
MR. H. C. LLOY 13, formerly a technical representative of B.E.N. Patents, Ltd., has joined Romac Industries, Ltd., as sales manager of the compressed-air division. MR. M. D. BOYCE, who is the son of the chairman and managing director of the company, becomes general manager of the division. •
MR. P. A. HOPKINS, general manager of Maudes of Norwich, Ltd., one of the Kenning Group of companies, is to retire, but will retain his association with the group, acting in an advisory capacity in connection with certain of. the other companies. From 1930-37 he was in sole control of -Maudes until the concern was purchased by the late SIR GEORGE KEN14-1ING. His successor as general manager is MR. F. C. CLEmENTs, formerly assistant general manager. He joined the company in 1934.

MR. ERIC EAST WOOD has been appointed transport manager of Morlew Co-operative Society. He was formerly with Halifax Co-operative Society.
MR. J. L. HEnwolt-m, joint managing director of Hepworth and Grandage, Ltd., has been appointed a director of Associated Engineering Holdings, Ltd., the parent company. MR. G. COLLIN HEPWORTH', his brother, has become chairman of Hepworth and Grandage. MR. Tom 13-oo-nr, general manager of Hepworth and Grandage (Yeadon), Ltd., has been elected a director of that company.
