Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A STATEMENT made by Mr. H. F. r" Marks at the annual conference of the National Association of Furniture Warehousemen and Removers was contradicted on Wednesday by Mr. F.. Eastwood, of the Transport and General Workers Union.

Mr. Marks told the Association, as reported in The Commercial Motor last week, that the unions had asked, among other things, for a limitation to 200 miles a .day for drivers and an increase of 16i per cent. in basic wages in return for the operation of heavy vehicles at 30 m.p.h.

Mr. Eastwood said that these statements were untrue. No specific limitation of mileage and no advance in basic wages had been requested. The unions were merely asking that the maximum drivingday should be reduced from 11 to 10 hours without a corresponding cut in wages.
