Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A REORIENTATION of -tanker rt policy was mentioned before Mr. J. R. Lindsay, North Western Deputy Licensing Authority, at Manchester last week, when he resumed hearing the application by the Crow Carrying Co., Ltd., for an A licence for six tankers to be based in the City.

A discussion wok place between representatives of the concern and the objectors, , after. . which Mr. Norman Letts, for Crow, told Mr. Lindsay that since the previous hearing in November last (The' -Commercial -Motor, November 9, 1956) tanker policy was being reconsidered. The parties sought an adjournment sine die so that further talks Could • take place. The outcome of these, said Mrs Letts, might shorten the case considerably. •

The objectors were B.R.S. (Pickfords), Ltd., 'Reliance Motor 'Diesel, Ltd., and A. S. Jones, Ltd. Some Of the vehicles concerned in the application were types to be lined with stainless steel and insulated for the carriage of special chemicals for the Geigy Co., Lid.

In November, it had been submitted that although Crow's large fleet of Aand contract-A-licensed vehicles was based at Barking, Essex, their traffic was countrywide and it was essential for vehicles to be based in Manchester to speed up delivery.. . The objectors contended that tanker facilities in the northwest were adequate and that Crow were "creeping into" the area.
