THE scheme which the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners have framed for the co-ordination of express services between the 'West Riding of Yorkshire and Blackpool has been accepted, in the main, by the operators concerned. One section deals with services operated by the pool companies and the other section concerns operators outside the pool. Both winter and summer time-tables are covered by the scheme, which includes a complete list of picking-up point&

The Commissioners heard representations on the proposals at a special sitting, in Leeds, last Friday. The chairman (Mr. Joseph Farndale), explaining that the review of the services had been suggested by the Minister of Transport, in a recent appeal, said the Commissioners had borne in mind the various points raised by the Minister's inspector, including the following :— That the proposals areviously put forward by the pool companies did not remove the objection that no regard had been paid to the existing road and rail facilities; that the services should, so far as is practicable, follow the most direct route; the removal of anomalies; the pruning of redundant winter services; and that the services should be regarded primarily as from Yorkshire to Blackpool and not from Blackpool to Yorkshire.

Mr. D. I. Sandelson, solicitor to ,the North-Eastern Division of the Commercial Motor Users Association, said the scheme was a fine attempt to deal with the situation equitably on behalf of all parties, as well as the public, On behalf of two of the railway companies, Mr. G. H. P. Beanies stated the scheme would result in increases— some of them appreciable—in the number of departures from several places. He submitted that there was no need for the altered timings, additional picking-up points and additional fares.

Mr. Eaton Smith said that L. Hanson and Sons. Ltd., supported the general arrangement, but wished to retain certain special facilities which were granted to the company long before the new scheme was drawn up. Representing the pool companies, Mr. W. R. Hargrave replied to points of detail put forward by other operator&
