At the annual May Court of Laugharne (Carrn.), Mr. Tudor H. F. Williams, the well-known proprietor of Carmarthenshire bus services, was reelected Portreeve . (ormayor) of Laugharne.

Mr. II. A. Holmes has resigned his position as general manager of the India Tyre and Rubber Co.,. Ltd., but will continue to act as chairman and director. Mr. W. C. Thorne, a director of the company, has been appointed general manager.

Mr. J. L. Palmer, M.B.E., has relinquished the post of Clerk to the Appeal Tribunal, and Mr. A. J. Jones has been appointed acting-clerk. Prior to his appointment to the staff of the Tribunal, Mr. Jones was at the Ministry of Transport. Mr. Palmer has now returned to the Ministry, after having been away for the benefit of his health for a month.

Amongst the results in the French municipal elections, which have just taken place, we note with pleasure the success of M. Charles Blum, chairman and managing director of the Societe Latil. M. Blum becomes Mayor of Saint Cloud, and no more suitable candidate could have been elected. He is popular in the district and his administrative abilities are of a very high order.

At a meeting of the committee of the Liverpool Section of the Road Haulage Association, Mf. R. B. Stockdale, of MotorCarriers, Ltd., Liverpool, was elected chairman, in succession to Mr. T. F. Hargreaves. His deputy is Mr. P. Stevenson, of Stevenson's Transport, Ltd, Newcomers to the committeelare

Messrs. 3. Donaldson Hudson (M.R.S., Ltd.) and Fitzsimmons (Henry Tyrer, Ltd.).

The appointment of Mr. Stockdale is a popular one, as he was one of the founders of the North-Western Area R.H.A. and has served on the national council as a delegate. He is also the chairman of the road-transport section of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

We are informed that Mr. L. W. J. Hancock, formerly with Rolls-Royce. Ltd., at present pubBtity manager of Armstrong-Saurer Commercial Vehicles, Ltd., and Editor of The Armstrong. &curer Bulletin, will relinquish his position in June, after being with the company since its inception in 1931. Some of Mr. Hancock's activities will be remembered in connection with the entry of an oil-engined coach in the first R.A.C. Rally, and the non-stop run of two heavily loaded oilers from London to Aberdeen.

He was one of the first 10 advertising men in the country to pass the Intermediate and Final Examinations of the Advertising Association, and won the Sir Charles Higham Cup in 1929.

He has not yet made any plans for .his: future, although it is understood that the desire for an increased scope for his experience and activities is the reason for his decision to leave the company.
