• The licence held by Wishaw-based Scotmove has been renewed for 12 months only by Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority Alex Brand, after the company appeared at disciplinary proceedings for the second time in 12 months because of problems over maintenance.
The firm had applied to renew its national licence for six vehicles and 32 trailers, with two vehicles and three trailers to be acquired. Last May, however, Scottish Licensing Authority Hugh McNamara warned it about its poor maintenance record (CM 23 May 1987).
Evidence was given at a Glasgow public inquiry that since then nine prohibitions (including four irnrnediates) had been imposed on its vehicles.
