• Renault Truck Industries is once again examining the possibility of bringing French-built Renault buses and coaches into the UK. A decision should be made within the next few weeks. According to RTI man aging director Francis Cousin, if the company does decide to sell French-designed PSVs in Britain, the first right-handdrive models could appear at the Birmingham Motor Show in October.
Cousin says that Renault already has a number of bus and coach models which could suit the UK market, including a right-hand-drive bus chassis built for the Australian market.
Any French-built bus chassis would be shipped in for completion by a British bodybuilder, he adds.
Among Renault's PSVs is the stylish FR1 integral coach, offered with either Renault's own 210kW (285hp) engine, or a turbocharged 250kW (340hp) Mack E6 diesel. The FR1 was launched in November 1983, when it was expected to be brought into Britain.
