Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Mobil-Oil Switzerland has developed a miniature supervisory and control computer for the maintenance engineer and it is available through Wymark Technical Products.

The unit, the Mobil maintenance alarm computer, has 12 timing channels each of which can be programmed with any one of 48 timer intervals ranging from eight hours to longer intervals, useful for, say, the long-term maintenance of buildings, up to 14 years. It signals by flashing lamps, or if desired by sound an alarm bell.

A 16 digit display provides information on the status of each channel at any time, but, says, Wymark, no computer training is needed to operate this unit, primarily aimed at users of complex machinery requiring maintenance at different times, and costing 2620. It won a gold medal at the Nuernberg Inventions Exhibi tion, and may be a portent of maintenance aids to come.
