Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new series of portable testers for hydraulic systems is introduced by Webster Instruments, Series 2 HT testers measure flow, pressure, temperature and shaft or motor speed, and can be connected and used in either direction of flow.

They can indicate flow and temperature in a second circuit while still connected to the main circuit. For this purpose, a cable connection from a remote flow block plugs into an extra socket on the tester. The operator, selecting remote or internal readings by switch can therefore check both circuits at the same time.

Similarly, the method can be used to check flows in parallel hydraulic circuits — for example, where two cylinders are designed to move at equal speeds. The extra input facility can also be used to extend the accurate measurement range of the tester downwards by plugging in a Webster low-flow block.

In Series 2, the HT tester has been re-styled, presenting the control panel at an angle to give easier viewing and cleaning. The unit has a built-in loading valve under the operator's control to simulate system work ing conditions. An internal bypass protects man and machine against over-pressure.
