Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A one-ton Tuckaway folding floor crane has been introduced by B. Dixon-Bate following the success of the company's 0.5-ton model. Designed for one-man operation, the latest Tuckaway folds to a height of 101in. within its overall length of less than 6ft. It is easily stowed and transported and is expected to have a special appeal to garage owners and hauliers.

When folded, the crane may be stowed flat beneath a workshop bench or on its side against a wall. Overall (folded) dimensions of 701in. x 391in. x 10in. allow for transport in a van or pick-up.

Erection of the crane is, it is claimed, a simple 15sec job for one man. The mast/jib assembly is constructed of robust rectangular-section tubular steel and is locked by twin bracing struts after it has been raised to the vertical position. A heavy-duty coil spring at the base of the mast reduces the effort needed to raise the assembly to 20Ib.

Load lift is effected by means of a hand-operated doubleacting hydraulic pump, a ram acting on an extensible jib. The lifting hook is attached to a chain of adjustable length. The length of the extensible jib is selected by the operator according to reach required or weight to be lifted. Load at the fullest extension of 4ft 81in. is a maximum of lOcwt which is increased to 1 ton at 2ft 101in. jib length. Lifting height of the hook varies from between %in: and 8ft 7in. for full extension and between 2ft 31in. and 7ft 2iin. at its shortest reach.

The baseframe of theTuckaway is mounted on a fixed front and castored rear wheels. The mast height when erected is less than 5ft. Made by: B. Dixon-Bate Ltd, Bridge Works, Chester CH3 5 NA.
