A brushless drive-through washing unit developed specifically for irregular-shaped vehicles where brush-washing techniques are inadequate, has been introduced by Smith Bros and Webb.
Known as the Britannia TW emaculator, the new unit uses a chemical solution, applied through a series of spray jets, and operates completely automatically, including the metering and mixing of chemicals.
The unit consists of two separate bridge structures each carrying specially positioned spray jets. A dilute chemical solution is sprayed on to the vehicle as it travels slowly through the first bridge. The vehicle remains stationary for about a minute between bridges and then passes through the second rinse-off bridge.
Provision for comprehensive under-chassis cleaning can • be included in the specification, using the same chemical supply and pumping system. This can be arranged to operate either selectively or on every wash cycle.
