Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Over 425 typical questions on goods vehicle testing and plating which may be asked by operators are answered in a book Motor Vehicle Testing and Plating written by Mr C. C. Toyne.

This book, an updated version of the earlier edition, has been revised and expanded to include the new requirements for testing wind-screen wipers and washers, trailer landing legs and so on, changes in the test requirements for smoke emission and the requirements of the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1971. A number of illustrations of test equipment are also included.

A new chapter is included on the new vehicle prohibition procedure introduced on January 1.

The question and answer format. the author suggests, enables information to be presented in a concise and easily understood manner and is especially useful when wishing to refer quickly to a particular point concerning test requirements.

Mr Toyne is well qualified to prepare such a book having been concerned, through his positions as senior mechanical engineer in the Metropolitan traffic area and assistant chief engineer for the DoE, with the setting up and operation of the heavy goods vehicle testing scheme.

The book costs 65p by post from Liffon Engineering Services, 247 Western Avenue.
