Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ArCH work is being done on problems of transport and storage of bulk powders—as was evident at the I.Mech.E. conference on the subject last week. But much work has still to be done.

The last speaker in the afternoon session, G. Wigley sales manager of Metalair Ltd. put the difficulties of the typical maker of bulk powder vehicles in a nutshell when he complained with some rancour that tests had to be conducted with every grade of powder before provision could be adequately made for transporting material in a road vehicle and for storage in a silo.

Most of the speakers stressed the urgent need for research in this field. The conference attracted about 400 delegates and should go a long way in creating liaison possibilities that may well be valuable to future advances in the carriage of powders. And, probably even more important, the conference may have helped to persuade producers to make a more detailed study of the interests of transporters and users of their materials.
