A NEW Unlink universal fifth-wheel assembly from Scammell Lorries Ltd was introduced last week at the opening at Liverpool of the first of Scammell's new trailer division centres (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, January 7).

Included in the line-up of trailers was the Auto-C model, specially built to show the braking equipment now fitted to meet the new Regulations. Also on display was the Scammell conversion kit.

The Unilink is supplied in two types to provide the correct fifth-wheel height above the frame height which normally is 10.375 in. but 13 in. on one or two specialized chassis. Designed to fit almost any make of tractive unit the Unilink provides the operator with a quick conversion, and the basic kit is made up of a turntable, cross member, brackets and stop. Mudguard stays, air-pipe assemblies and electrical connections are also available where required.
