CHANGES in London Transport's country

bus service 424 from April I include an end to the experimental operation of doubledecker Daimler Fleetlines with top-decks closed-off for one-man operation in off-peak periods.

The service is to be reduced on Saturdays and Sundays due to the continued fall in passengers and all journeys will be operated with two-man crews, double-deckers still being employed.

A London Transport spokesman said the experiment had given the Board valuable experience of this type of operation and the specially adapted vehicles would be further tried out on another route in due course. The operation of the 424 service with one-man double-deckers was described in COMMERCIAL MOTOR January 6 1967.
