ANOTHER tipping vehicle convention in 1967 on the lines of the highly successful one at Buxton last year is not only desirable but necessary, says Mr. E. Hemphill in his annual report as chairman of the RHA tipping vehicles functional group. It had provided a unique opportunity for operators to meet and discuss their problems, as well as the chance to hear and discuss four papers.
The problems of land-sale charges in coal haulage, and their distorting effect on transport costs are referred to by Mr. Hemphill in his report and he comments that the Prices and Incomes Board was "unable to produce any forthright comment on land-sale charges, which it seemed to regard as unfathomable."
