IT was announced last Saturday that
Major F. J. Chapple, general manager of the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd. (owned by the British Transport Commission), had been appointed chairman, in succession to Mr. George Cardwell, who is chairman of the Road Passenger Executive.
It is understood that Major Chapple's sphere of interest will be widened to include the Western and Southern National companies and the Red and White group.
Mr. J. C. Dean. general manager of the West Yorkshire Road Car Co., Ltd.. has been appointed general manager of the Bristol company. Until 1935, Major Chapple was director and general manager of West Yorkshire.
