I hope that my experience may be of some interest and encouragement to any of your younger readers who are about to sit the hgv driving test. At the age of 21 and only two weeks after receiving my first provisional licence, with no special or official training at all, I have successfully passed my test on a 1600 cuft capacity Luton furniture van.
I hope a lot more people can also claim this.
