• Mr John Golding (Labour, Newcastle under Lyme) last week called in the Commons for Traffic Commissioners to bt replaced "by a more effective system for the prevention of bus fare increases".
But the Transport Minister turned dowr the suggestion. Recent bus fare increasei reflected the additional cost of substantia wage settlements, he said.
Mr Peyton also rejected a suggestion thai drivers on foreign tours arranged in thi: country should be subjected to the samt restrictions on driving hours as those ir force in Britain.
