Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

It is reported that negotiations are nearly completed for an amalgamation between the New Motor Cab Co. Ltd., and the British Motor Cab Co., Ltd.

Bruhn's Taxameters.

Bruhn's Taxameters, Ltd., of 245, Gray's Inn Road, W.C., announces that. the company is about to open several depots, in various parts of London, at which all repairs and replacements to its taximeters will be undertaken by skilled workmen.

Outside Bus Seats.

The administration of the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., desires to have practical suggestions for the alleviation of the discomforts to which outside passengers are subject during the winter, or during wet weather. Proposals should be addressed to the chief engineer of the company, at 9, Grosvenor Road, S.W.

Greater Omnibus Service.

The prospectus of Greater Omnibus Services. Ltd., was included in our issue of last week, but we were unable to make any references to it, by reason of the fact that we had no space for comment of any kind. The authorized capital is 2150,000, divided into 145,000 ordinary shares at 21 each, and 100.000 deferred

shares of Is. each. A first debenture issue of 275,000, divided into 225 units, was also announced. The ordinary shares are entitled to a dividend at the rate of eight per cent. per annum, and to 30 per cent. of the remaining divisible profits, the balance of which profits is to go to the holders of the deferred shares.

The company already holds licences to establish public services in various towns, and it contemplates considerable developments. The map which accompanied the prospectus indicates developments all over England, but these are obviously not capable of immediate accomplishment, and certainly not with the present capital.

We do not enter into any detailed criticism of the scheme, for which we learn that £50,000 (net) has been subscribed, but we see no reason why, granted careful management and economical administration, it should not be carried out successfully, in a chosen number of centres. More capital will he got.

It is desirable, here, to state that the Mr. C. S. Windsor, who is a director of the company, is not the gentleman of that surname who is a member of the Editorial staff of this journal—Mr. A. W. -Windsor. We, desire to make this point clear, in consequence of numerous inquiries which have reached us.

c4 London Traffic Rivals.

The latest comparisons between receipts are afforded by the following tabular data:

Motorbus competition is likely to force universal half-penny fares on some of the municipal tramway services to the East of the Metropolis.

The L.C.C. is purchasing a petrolelectric motor escape-van and two petrol-electric motor turntable-ladders, from Mr. J. C. BITIAtil, of Nuremberg. What is the matter, we wonder, with English petrolelectric sets? The ladders will he made by Messrs. Magir us, Ewald and Lieb, of Ulm.

We understand that the experiment of all-night motorbus services in London has been accorded a. satisfactory reception.

Benzole is becoming more and more the vogue with Pails taxicab companies, and this notwithstanding the fact that the companies are still entitled to the extras.

Results.

The L.G.O.C. dividend for the half-year ended the 30th ult. is eight per cent. actual. Having regard to the considerable amount of what we may term "clearingup " payments, which have been charged against the half-year in question, and to the noteworthy advances in charges by the AS50 ciated Equipments, Ltd,, for chassis, spare parts, renewals and overhauls, there is no question that the profits of the whole motorbus branch are at least at the rate of 25 per cent. per annum on the capital sum involved in that under taking generally.
