EVEN SEALS were looking to escape the cold last week as a young pup made its way out of the stormy sea into a busy lorry park near Stranraer. The seal, refusing to go back into the water, was spotted at the Cairnryan port lorry park in South West Scotland. A ferry worker put the six-week-old animal in their car to keep it safe, but they later returned to find the seal, named Smartie, sitting on their dashboard after it escaped from the confines of the boot. As the UK was hit with wintry weather, this young seal may have been searching for a nice warm cab or a lift to warmer regions by a kind-hearted driver. It was instead rescued by the Scottish SPCA.
