JOHN DENNIS, one of the doyens of CV journalism and a man who played an important role in the early development of Volvo Trucks in the UK, died of heart failure on 24 January at the age of 86.
The one-time news editor of CM became publicity manager and editor of the ACV Gazette in 1962. When publisher AEC was taken over by Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968, he was moved to Leyland's Lancashire HQ to direct the company's public relations. He joined haulier Jim McKelvie when the latter acquired the exclusive franchise for Volvo Trucks in the UK, playing his part in establishing the brand in the UK.
