OUR TOP USED truck this week is a bit different: it's a 2011-registered, limited edition 6x2 Scania R730 Black Amber.
It's on the forecourt of Scania Scotland at Bellshill, just outside Motherwell. Under the Topline cab is the 15.6-litre V8 engine producing 730hp and 3,500Nm torque, assisted by the 12-speed Opticruise and retarder. The original owner specified this limited edition truck with plenty of extras: with Xenon headlamps and reversing camera on the outside, while inside it has enough creature comforts to have the truck listed by an estate agent. It comes with the Scania kitchen option, a 22-inch flat-screen TV, a sound system, and a sat-nay to point you in the right direction.
Scania launched Black Amber in 2011 following on from the Dark Diamond limited edition launched in 2009 Limited to only 100 trucks, it was sold globally. This particular one, number two of the original 100, was the only one to make it to the UK.
It almost goes without saying that the V8 is the most sought-after of the Scania products and, complete with bells, whistles and tassels, this truck is not going to be cheap.
