MR REV'S would seem to have started the New Year badly if his letter in Commercial Motor (January 3) is anything to go by.
I make no comment on his opinions regarding the Road Transport Industry Training Board — that is a separate issue which I would be delighted to take up with him without using Commercial Motor.
But on the other points he raises — East Keswick is quite conveniently situated for three Group Training Associations, we have clients from as far afield as Doncaster and Liverpool, and our waiting list for hgv driver training has only approached six months in length for one brief period in 1978. Currently, it is six weeks for any class of hgv training.
Group Training Associations in general, and this group in particular, train to the highest standards and achieve good results, well above the national average.
If Mr Revis were to use GTAs for his training requirements he would not only be assured of the best training possible in this field, but also would retrieve some of the hard-earned money he has paid in levy.
My 1981 message to him is; use accredited professional training organisatiOns in order to get training of the highest standard and at the same time reduce training costs by way of training grants.
