Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I WISH to point out a couple of errors in the fleet list as shown for Northern General (CM, December 6, 1980).

I noticed that the Routemasters have been omitted. The 57 single-deckers listed as Fleetlines are indeed Daimler Roadliners fitted with Gardner engines and fitted with Alexander bodies.

The Routemasters were still in service when I visited Durham in July 1980 and were garaged at Chester-le-Street, unless they have been withdrawn since then. I am a keen reader and find Commercial Motor very informative.

PS: Please will you clarify which engines are to be fitted to the Leyland National — MK 2 680 or TL11 — as I read that either can be fitted.

MALCOLM CHEESEMAN Tunbridge Wells Kent Our road test says that the Leyland National has a 680 engine. Regarding Mr Cheeseman's other point, while he would have been right in July, 1980, our survey is correct as at December 6,1980. And, sorry Mr Cheeseman, but there are no Roadliners in the fleet, and there never have been. — Editor.
