Lord Wakefield of Kendal who has been president of the Industrial Transport Association since 1952 has advised the Association's national council that he will retire at the a.g.m. in June. It is understood that the ITA will invite another member of the Upper House to fill the vacancy. Invitations to become patrons of the Association have been accepted by the Earl of Elgin and Kincardine (formerly Lord Bruce), Lord Drumalbyn, Lord Long of Wraxall and P.G. Masefield. The Earl of Elgin has been chairman of the Dunfermline Lorry Driver of the Year committee since its formation and takes an active part in organizing the local event. His fellow Scot, Lord Drumalbyn has had Parliamentary experience with the Scottish Office, the Ministry of Pensions and National insurance and the Board of Trade. Lord Long of Wraxall follows in the footsteps of his late father who was a patron of the Association for many years. Mr. P. G. Masefield is chairman of the British Airports Authority with a vast experience in air transport. From 1939 until 1943 he was technical editor of Aeroplane. C.L. Ricketts has been re-appointed chairman of the Transport Users Consultative Committee for Wales and Monmouthshire from March 1 1959. until February 28 1972. Mr. Ricketts was appointed in August to serve as chairman of the Committee until February 28 1969, in succession to R.P. Roberts, whose appointment as chairman of the Central Transport Consultative Committee for Great Britain had been previously announced.
John Turner, 52, has been appointed managing director of Coast Lines Ltd. Mr. Turner has been chief commercial manager of the main board of Coast Lines since 1955. He is also a director of Tayforth Ltd.
J. M. Taylor has been appointed sales manager of Isles Ltd., Stanningley, Pudeey, Leyland Group distributors in the West Riding of Yorkshire, to take charge of the commercial vehicle division.
