Belgian Diesel-electric Bus IT is reported that the Belgian company I Ateliers de Constructions Electrique tIc Charleroi has developed a diesel-electric bus, for which the name " Electrobus " has been coined. The design is for 90 passengers, and the power train consists of a diesel engine in unit with an a.c. generator, whence the current passes through a rectifier incorporating a speed control into d.c. electric motors which drive the rear wheels through reduction gearing. Regenerative braking is incorporated, and the bus has air suspension.
