Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At 38:tonnes gcw, the Cummins E290 driving through a Spicer SST10 10-speed constant-mesh box was not found wanting in Leyland's 17-28 Roadtrain even though it was virtually the same specification we had tested at 32 tons in 1982.

The vehicle's overall average speed of 64.42km/h (40.04mph) is respectable and its fuel con

sumption of 41.241it/100km (6.85mpg) compares well with others in its class.

The close ratios of the Spicer box assisted in maintaing good average speeds on most of the motorway sections. Only half a gear down-change was usually needed. However, steep hill climbing showed up the relative lack of power while using the high 4.43 to 1 rear axle ratio.

Roadtrain's sleeper cab is spacious, accommodating two comfortable bunks.

In-cab noise levels were very acceptable with 73dB(A) being the highest level recorded at 60mph.

A Chapman Bremshey suspension seat softened a firm ride in which there was very little roll.
