Harold Nockolds, deputy chairman of IPC Transport Press Ltd, publishers of Commercial Motor, retires today (December 31).

Mr Nockolds joined Temple Press Ltd (which was later merged •with lliffe Transport Publications Ltd to form IPC Transport Press) in 1960 from The Times, where he spent 15 years as motoring correspondent and editor, special supplements.

After a short period as editor of the Temple Press journal Motor, Mr Nockolds became successively managing editor, editorial director and eventually managing director of that company, and on the formation of IPC Transport Press in 1970 he became deputy managing director and finally deputy chairman.
