Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Fluid Dynamics, Pumps

again, I Mr. D. V. Brown, of Tottenham, London. He points out that when it is necessary to advance the timing on BMC diesel engines fitted with the DPA pump, it can be a difficult job to hold the pump steady when tightening up the three nuts

holding the pump. His solution is to make a lever formed to fit round the triangular pump body, so making it possible to hold the pump steady while pinching up the nuts.

Still on the subject of holding a part firmly whilst work is being done on it, Mr. Brown suggests a method of holding the primary shaft firm whilst the nut on it is undone. One answer, he suggests, is to take the centre out of a scrap clutch plate and weld it to a block which can then be held in the vice.

The box can then be placed on the bench with the shaft held firm, which is considered to be much better than locking in two gears at once.

Comments Handyman: This man again! He certainly hits both the trouble spots and the answers. And, as usual, his dodges make good sense.
