MR. H. C. THOMAS, director and secretary of the Northern Aluminium Co., Ltd., is to retire.
MR. J. P. SENIOR, deputy genera/ manager of the Burnley, Colne and Nelson undertaking, is to succeed MR. R. WHALLEY as general manager next April.
MR. H. ASHTON, chief administrative assistant of Bury Transport Department, is to retire after 47 years service. His successor will be MR. G. WILLIAMS, chief clerk.
SIR W. WAVELL WAKEFIELD has been co-opted to the board of Associated Commercial Vehicles, Ltd. He is chairman of Park Royal Vehicles. Ltd., and a director of a number of other companies.
MR. JOSEPH SCOTT has been appointed traffic superintendent of Sunderland Transport Department. following the appointment . of MR. J. ROSTRON, former deputy general manager and traffic superintendent, to RIke general managership at Grimsby. Mr. Scott was previously assistant traffic superintendent.
MR. R. S. GUY has been appointed to the board of the Sunbeam Trolleybus Co., Ltd. MR, W. H. GILBERT has become chief engineer of Guy Motors. Ltd. MR. S. W. SHEARS has joined the company as design and development engineer. He was previously with the Daimler and B.M.C. concerns. MR.• W. T. GwitaaAto has been appointed experimental engineer.
MR. G. FERNYHOUGEI has been appointed operating manager (country buses and coaches) of the London Transport Executive, irt succession to MR. B. H. HARBOUR, who has become a member of the Executive. Mr. Fernyhough joined the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., in 1930. In 1946• he was loaned to the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co.. Ltd., to advise on the organization of transport services in Abadan.
SIR HERBERT MERREIT, SIR HENRY WILSON SMITH, MR. W. M. CODRINGTON, MR. M. B. REID and MR. H. V. VALE have resigned from the board of the Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd., as a consequence of the transfer of the Powell Duffryn Group's shareholding to the SoconyVacuum Oil Co., inc., New York. They were originally nominated by the Group. Vacuum are now wholly owned by the American concern, on whose invitation Sir Henry and Mr. Reid have been re-elected to the Vacuum board. Other Vacuum directors are Mr. H. W. ROCKE (managing), MR. C. LAWRIE, MR. J. BLAKE MIDDLETON and MR. J. S. VESEY BROWN. The chairman is MR. J. C. GRTDLEY.

MR. A. N. DAvtEs, late technical director of Douglas Equipment, Ltd., has joined the board of the Cheshire Engineering Group as chief development and designs engineer covering special off-the-road vehicles manufactured by the group at Camberley.
MR. L. H. BALLS has succeeded AIR. C. H. S. PICKET l' as director and general manager of the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., and Ma. L. E. RICHARDS has replaced MR J.' S. GAVIN as director and general manager of the Eastern National Omnibus Co., Ltd. As reported in The Commercial Motor On November 19, Mr. Pickett and Mr. Gavin tomorrow become executive directors at the Tilling group headquarters. MR. T. G. PRUETT has been appointed director and general manager of the Thames Valley Traction Co., Ltd.
